A BRIEF HISTORY

The Former Capital of Mewar

Chittorgarh served as the capital of Mewar for centuries. Its fort witnessed repeated sieges before the royal court shifted to Udaipur in the sixteenth century.

The hill fort contained numerous reservoirs, tanks and wells designed to sustain a large population within its walls.
